Rooted in the South. Raised in the light.

Built on where we come from. Made for where we’re going.

SolFolk is shaped by Southern Black American culture, heritage and faith tradition: the Delta and the Black Belt, the red clay of Georgia and the Carolinas, the Lowcountry and the Sea Islands of the Gullah Geechee.

This is apparel for those who move with purpose, carry culture, and create in their everyday lives. This is your uniform.

Heritage

Shaped by the South.

Our story runs through the whole of the Black South: the sharecroppers and the organizers, the church mothers and the musicians, the porches and the pulpits.

It includes the Gullah Geechee people of the Sea Islands, who held on to their language, foodways, faith and craft through generations of pressure to let it go. That spirit of carrying culture forward is the root of everything we make.

Faith

Not preaching. Testifying.

Faith is part of that inheritance, and it shows up in what we make, from Let Yah Light Shine! to the promise behind every piece.

We are not here to preach at anyone. We are here to testify, one garment at a time, and to make clothes that carry the warmth of the Spirit into every room you walk into.

The giants we stand on.

Writers, organizers and trailblazers who told our story on our own terms. Each one has a piece in the Heritage Icons collection.

The folk

Made for the folk who carry it.

SolFolk grows out of the creative work of CZAR Josh. Every piece is made to order, printed for the person who will wear it, and built to be lived in.

Wear it to church, to the cookout, to the march, to the studio. Wherever you carry it, you carry the story with you.
